Nandi Hills: A day, back in winter

Nandi Hills © 2006 Dr Vivek M
An overcast morning did little to dampen our photographic spirits - Coldplay sounded warm, Anita relished Lavannya’s cold sandwiches, and Praveen enjoyed the drive even with chill wind in his ears. We started around 7, and headed towards a temple under the shadow of the Nandi Hills that Shankar had once spoke about (yes, long long ago!). But soon, we realised as we approached the hill, it was more sensible to head towards the mist covered top than take a stroll around a temple on a dull lit day.
We were blessed. The mist still lingered around, expecting our arrival and soon we were all lost in a cold December morning, wishing we had brought along that warm jacket. An old man with a walking stick was spotted disappearing into the woods and we jumped out of the car to snap some pictures like paparazzi pouncing on Britney Spears.
Breakfast was bread-omlettes, Maggi noodles and McDowell’s mineral water. After a very noisy chatter, day dreaming about holidays in Sikkim and exchanging the usual equipment babble, we walked to the ramparts now promptly seized over by couples of varying ages and colours.
Anita was exceptionally co-operative as she posed for many our cameras and she has been warned to pay us in cash or kind for the impromptu portfolio that she would be proud of.
We returned at 2.
